On August 16, 2023, Gree, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced a recall on dehumidifiers manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances of China that were sold from January 2011 through February 2014. The dehumidifiers can overheat, smoke, and catch fire, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.

Gree Recalls 5 Brands of Dehumidifiers Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

 This recall involves select 25, 30, 40, 45, 50, 65 and 70-pint dehumidifiers with brand names GE, Kenmore, Norpole,  Seabreeze, and SoleusAir. Recalled model numbers and date codes can be located below. The brand name and the pint capacity are printed on the back, front, or side of the dehumidifier. The model number and date code are printed on a sticker on the back, front, or side of the unit. The dehumidifiers are white, beige, gray or black plastic and measure between 19 and 24 inches tall, 13 and 15 inches wide, and 9 and 11 inches deep.

 

Consumers should immediately stop use, unplug the dehumidifiers, and register their information below or contact Gree to receive a refund.

 To determine if your dehumidifier is affected by this recall:

  1. Locate the name plate sticker on your dehumidifier (it is on the back, side, or front of the unit).  

  2. Click on the Brand Name below to view sample pictures of affected Models.

  3. Enter the Brand Name, Model Number, Date Code, and Serial Number below from the label on your dehumidifier. If you are missing any of the required information please call 1-888-731-7987.

  4. If you have a GE dehumidifier with model number ADER50LSL1, only units with date code “01/14” is part of the recall.

  5. If your product is part of the recall, you will be asked to enter your contact information. If your product is not part of the recall, you can continue use.

  6. Once you have submitted your contact information, you will be sent a return kit with next step instructions.
